Today, I will be discussing on the advantages and disadvantages of Social Networking sites.

首先，使用社交网站的优势. Firstly, are the advantages of social networking sites.

1. LOW COST ; Using a social networking site is much cheaper compared to arranging meetings amongst friends and hosting a party by inviting guests through a networking site, for example Facebook and Myspace to name a few. This most clearly justifies the popularity of the site as it makes something that usually is so hard to plan, fast and simple and very cheap. Amazingly for a big company or business, they can use it to scout other businesses on their target audiences and market share which could lead into future partnership, and at a very low price.

2.建立信誉;它有助于从他们的客户公司有信心，因为他们了解目标受众的日常工作，可以帮助企业销售更具体地产品。只要公司不应当与其客户建立积极的兴趣。

2.BUILDS CREDIBILITY ; It helps a company gain confidence from their client as they get to know the target audience daily routine that could help the business sell the product in a more specific manner. As long as the company doesn't be aggressive with their building interest of the client.

3.连接;每个人，任何人都可以通过一个连接社交网络站点。这导致的友谊是从整个非洲大陆的，甚至是隔壁邻居形成。交朋友容易，但保持友好关系是一个挑战，教你玩你的卡的权利。常言道，'这是一个小世界'。

3.CONNECTIONS ; Everyone and anyone are able to connect through a social networking site. This leads to friendships being formed from across the continent or even next door neighbours. Making friends is easy but keeping the friendship is a challenge, teaches you to play your cards right. As the saying goes, 'it's a small world'.

凡于使用社交网站的缺点等; Where as the DISADVANTAGES on using a social networking site are as such;

1.LACK OF ANONYMITY ; There are many irresponsible teenagers out there that give out their personal details on various social networking sites that may lead unnecessary disturbance to occur into their private lives. Unaware of the dangerous things that could happen if the person on the other side isn't who it's supposed to be.

2.骗局和骚扰，社交网站可以得到入侵，不是每个安全的位置，可以是可靠的。它可以破坏安全既是个人和商业背景。

2.SCAMS AND HARASSMENT ; A social networking site could get hacked into, not every secured location can be reliable. It could disrupt security in both a personal and business context.

3.耗时;某些人不喜欢周围的社交网站点击了一整天。虽然有一个社交网站应该是充满乐趣和享受，有的只是一群人看作是浪费时间。

3.TIME CONSUMING ; Certain people don't enjoy clicking around a social networking site all day. Although having a social networking site is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, some group of people just see it as a waste of time.

Plurk.com vs Twitter.com

They may be the TWO (2) most popular micro-blogging social networking site of the 21st century, but ONE of them certainly knocks the other out.

VERSUS

Both very interesting piece of work for updating status and post, yet there can only be ONE that stands out. Plurk, in my opinion clearly stands out at the range of components that are offered.

1. Timeline

There is a Timeline effect that was introduced by Plurk to look a lot more interactive and interesting, where as Twitter's Timeline is not as effective and captivating as Plurk's. On Plurk, it is a whole lot more attractive as it is placed in a horizontal manner such as the picture above compared to the vertical position that Twitter offers. It was a bold move but a very productive one, as many can see. One of the many successes of Plurk. Although both Plurk and Twitter users are opened to design their background with their own interest and creativity.

2. Chat Conversations

Despite the fact that Plurk is a micro blogging social networking site, on the status updates that a person puts up, his / her peers are allowed to give their response in a form of conversation. Twitter, however, isn't quite the 'in detailed' with the feedback from other followers of a person. It is a lot more confusing compared to Plurk's form of instant feedback.

3. One-Line Messages & Emoticons

This clearly is the 'IT' factor for both Plurk and Twitter, as well as doing justice to their popularity. Both sites have one-line messages that could not exceed more than 140 words, BUT Twitter fails to have emoticons as part of the update compared to Plurk, whom allows members to be very creative with their message update and emoticons *expressions*. Bravo, don't you think?

4. Karma

This feature basically wins Plurk the crown. The Karma feature are rewards that are given to members as they update regularly and as their popularity raises. The higher your Karma is, the more popular and socialize you are. Fascinating, don't you think? It is also shown that as the Karma levels grows, more exclusive emoticons would be available for the members to use as part of their message update. Twitter clearly hasn't reach a point where they reward their members for being consistent and popular. Although Twitter is a lot more talked about, compared to Plurk.

For me, the winner would be PLURK

Weekly Poll - What is the purpose of using social networking site?

Last week our poll question was about what is the main purpose of you using social networking sites? Speaking of social networking site, as I mentioned in previous post, social networking sites are the web page that helps the users to interact. Obviously, most of the people voted socialize(chat, friends) in last week poll. There are 8 out of 10 voters chosen they used social networking sites because of socialize, which mean they want to make new friends, interacting with peoples around the world.

However, this does not mean everyone use social networking sites because of socialize only. Yes, it is one of the reason. But social networking sites are so useful more than just socialize. Take a look at the features they have provided, whether is Facebook, Friendster or Myspace, they do working very hard to improve every features they could. Let see, what are the next answer people voted for.

Next, voters pick media(music or video). In my opinion, media is a very broad term, most of the users always share songs, videos through social networking sites. This is one of the easiest and fastest way to update your friends and family about any media elements you are sharing. For example, users like to post video in Facebook, indeed it is very convenient as people can watch it on Facebook and even leave comment afterall.

Last, the least people voted for is entertainment, for example, games. Well, people do like entertainments especially gaming. Game is fun especially comes to time killing! I'm sure there are still people very active in Restaurant City or Pet Society. It does addictive!!!

In conclusion, social networking sites are useful indeed. Users just have to manage their time well spending on thier social networking sites in a positive way. (:
